Installing Apache, MySQL and PHP on Windows XP

Step 1 - Downloading Apache, MySQL and PHP

The first thing we need to do in order to create an Apache, MySQL and PHP environment is get the installation files for Apache, PHP and MySQL.

Instructions:

To download Apache, go to http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi, choose a mirror and go to the
/dist/httpd/binaries/win32 directory. From this directory download the MSI file with no source code included, i.e. the file name should look like apache_1.3.x-win32-x86-no_src.msi (where x is any number).

To download PHP, go to http://www.php.net/downloads.php and choose the PHP ZIP package listed under the "Windows Binaries" heading.
This will take you to a page listing various mirrors containing the file. You can choose any mirror listed on the page but you may get faster downloads from the more local file mirrors (the ones at the top of the list).

To download MySQL, go to http://www.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-3.23/mysql-3.23.58-win.zip/from/pick and choose a file mirror to download from.
