Creating an Airport Extreme wireless network Step 2 - Sharing an Internet connection
Here we set up the Internet connection, so that the Airport Base Station knows where to send requests for web pages etc.
If your wireless network is not going to be connected to the Internet via the Airport Base Station you do not need to complete this step of the guide, nor any of the remaining steps. Otherwise, please read on. Instructions: From the "Connect using" dropdown list in the "Internet" tab, select the medium by which the Airport Base Station is connected to the Internet. For example, if the base station is connected to DSL modem via an Ethernet cable, select "Ethernet". If your internal network IP addresses are assigned automatically by a DHCP server (e.g. a DSL modem) select "Using DHCP" from the "Configure" drop down list. Assuming your modem is plugged in and connected to the Internet this will automatically fill in the rest of the required fields. If your internal IP addresses are not assigned automatically you will have to select "Manually" from the "Configure" drop down list and enter the rest of the values yourself.
Settings on this page are dependent on your network settings (e.g. if you have a dial-up modem, DSL modem etc) and your ISP. << Back to Airport settings || Continue to Network settings >> Navigate this article: Intro | Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 | ||
